iPhone SDK delayed by "two to three weeks"
By Jonathan Schlaffer
Those wishing for an official developer kit for the iPhone by the end of this month are going to be disappointed. Word on the street is that the developer kit will be delayed by at least two weeks, perhaps longer.
Apple has not given any reason as to the delay and the “official source” at Business Week suggests reports it will be late.
However, there are discussions going on, presumably internal to the company with lots of “last minute” talks going on. The situation may be slightly more complex than it appears to those of us on the outside.
The company has promised an iPhone SDK at some point, it was announced last year but has yet to materialize in any tangible way. There is a little less than one week remaining on the clock and it doesn’t look good.
Deadlines slip, that’s just something that happens in the business world. It seems that Apple is becoming Microsoft, a company that can’t meet promised deadlines. Hopefully it’s just for this one instance but the world is waiting, waiting for the iPhone SDK. Come on, Apple, where is it? When will we get it for sure?
Someone in the company must know because I can’t believe that no one has this information.
