FlyTunes, streaming audio for your iPhone, iPod Touch

By Jonathan Schlaffer

FlyTunes, streaming audio for your iPhone, iPod Touch The emphasis these days seems to be on the iPhone. But, 9.5 times out of 10, what works on the iPhone will work on the iPod Touch. FlyTunes allows you to listen to streaming audio stations on your iPhone or iPod Touch.

No installation is required so you don’t need to worry about “jailbreaking” or hacking your device in any way.

Simply navigate to the FlyTunes homepage and sign up for an account. Once you have you will be sent an email that contains a link to the FlyTunes site. If you have an iPod with the “software upgrade,” simply use the Mail application to open your email and click the link from your iPod Touch.

iPhone users don’t need to worry about that because it already comes with the software update (as do all new iPod Touch units as of this year).

You now have access to the FlyTunes streaming service, bookmark the page if you’re going to use it regularly. Most importantly, enjoy.

Battery life is going to be shorter since it is constantly using the WiFi chip to cache the audio stream.

Thanks to readers “Alberto” and “Amanda” for the tip.

    1. Amanda:

You’re very welcome for the tip! I just logged into flytunes the other day, decided to try to find something new to listen to & there were a ton of new stations added!!

    2. MAC:

I see that FlyTunes is killing it with a few stations in each city. Not even the good AM ones. My phone and Pod have tunes in them. I need AM and TV folks. Lets go on this, I am getting old.
