Is Spotlight-search for contacts coming to iPhone firmware 2.0?
By Danny Mendez
That’s a good question, and speculation across the web is pointing to yes. A Spotlight-search icon is visible in an iPhone firmware 2.0 screen-shot shown at the Apple March 6 event.
BlargKaboom found the Easter Egg in the Quicktime video for the recent Apple event in which the company announced the second version of the iPhone and iPod Touch firmware.
The addition of a search function to the contacts list in the iPhone is a blessing to users with too many friends. Apparently, a high-level of popularity can make the alphabetical-slider on the right not-useful-enough for several iPhone owners. Though the rumor is "good news", please remember last year’s bluetooth blunder surrounding the iPod Touch.
It’s not official until Apple delivers the goods, and it doesn’t help that Apple didn’t mention the search function during the March 6 event. The search function was also absent from the live, iPhone demo of contacts during the video of the event.
Apple is still offering the video of the event in Quicktime format on the company’s site. Jumping to the 9:30 mark will score you the screen-shot below:
