How to dual boot your iPhone with multiple firmware versions
Thursday, March 13th, 2008
In the same way that it’s possible to dual boot Windows XP/Vista and Mac OSX on a Mac or Linux and Windows on a PC; it’s now possible to do something similar on an iPhone. It’s now possible to boot multiple versions of the iPhone firmware on the same device.

If you’re looking forward to the release of the iPhone/iPod Touch software update in June, great. Those that have “jailbroken” their iPhone may not be so much. While some would like to have those features, every update from Apple breaks most “jailbroken” iPhones but not this time around.
That’s a good question, and speculation across the web is pointing to yes. A Spotlight-search icon is visible in an iPhone firmware 2.0 screen-shot shown at the Apple March 6 event.
Here’s something you can sink your teeth into. Apple is preparing iPhone firmware version 2.0 and will be making it available as a free updated by the end of June. It has already been released as a beta to “select” developers and enterprise customers.
The emphasis these days seems to be on the iPhone. But, 9.5 times out of 10, what works on the iPhone will work on the iPod Touch. FlyTunes allows you to listen to streaming audio stations on your iPhone or iPod Touch.
Apple is all set to release the SDK (Software Development Kit) for the iPhone which will enable many more third party applications. The SDK includes key components that enable the iPhone to function; which is necessary for application development. Since the iPhone and iPod Touch are similar, the SDK should work for both.
It seems that there are still some refurbished iPhones that Apple and AT&T would like to be rid of but the offer is rather limited. AT&T will be selling refurbished 4GB and 8GB iPhones for $199 and $249, respectively; with new activations. The offer is good at AT&T stores in the New England area.
