3G iPhone gets black glossy case redesign

By Jonathan Schlaffer

3G iPhone gets black glossy case redesignUp until the iPhone 2.0 (aka 3G iPhone) is released then mockups and rumored redesigns will continue to appear until it is actually released; supposedly in June.

If you are to believe pictures that have been circulating around Boy Genius Report and iPhone Savior then the iPhone is getting a glossy black plastic makeover for its 3G debut.

Let’s think about this for a second.  Many of the sites seem to think a plastic case would be better for all the communication antennas that Apple plans to include in the 3G iPhone; 850MHz, 1900MHz, 2100MHz, WCDMA, 802.11n, Bluetooth and WiFi to name a few.

Metal is bad for reception, plastic allows signals to flow through better so it does make sense.  Whether or not this is the actual redesign remains to be seen.

I can’t see Apple releasing the 3G iPhone with the current design, it will be redesigned but the question remains as to what form it will take.  Let’s just hope that if it is this plastic design that it won’t scratch as easily as the mirrored cases of the iPod Touch/Classic or the plastic case of the MacBook.

Maybe one day, Apple will see to making products that don’t scratch at all; like the very scratch resistant glass screens of the iPhone/iPod Touch.

I’m getting sick of misleading headlines like this one. It makes a statement which the article itself totally contradicts. If this is just a tactic to get more hits, you can count me out. Try having the headline match the article from now on, but don’t expect me to see it, as I’m removing the feed to this site from my RSS reader. This site has absolutely no credibility as far as I’m concerned.
