iPhone camera phone used more than Nokia N95 on Flickr

Flickr, a popular free photo sharing site operating under the umbrella of the Yahoo properties, keeps stats on its users and how they interact with the site. Among the many statistics they track are the types of camera or camera phone people are using to take and upload photos.
With all of the camera phone models out there, you’d think one of the trendy or highly coveted brands known for pictures, like Sony or Nokia, would be at the top of the list. The Nokia, especially, comes to mind with the recent popularity of its coveted and hard to get N95 5 Megapixel camera phone.
Instead of all of the usual suspects in camera phone photography, however, the iPhone stands out. Not known for its camera quality, and missing video entirely (to the chagrin of Qik users everywhere), the popular gadget still manages to top the list of most used camera phones on Flickr. That’s right - it is the most used camera phone, over all, on Flickr.
The popularity of the iPhone as a must-have gadget goes a long way toward explaining this. That being the case, this summer’s rumored release of the 3G iPhone should solidify its lead on Flickr as more people drink the koolaid buy an iPhone, in spite of its purported continued lack of video and ties to one provider, AT&T.
