iPhone 2 pictures begin to surface; some more believable than others
By Jonathan Schlaffer
Fake pictures of the next greatest Apple product are almost like a tradition by this point. It’s expected. If it didn’t happen people would be asking, “what happened?” So here we are, fake images of the iPhone have surfaced and at least one of them may be the real deal but nothing is certain until Steve Jobs himself walks up on stage and says “this is (the new) iPhone.”
CrunchGear has what it calls “Exclusive leaked pics of the iPhone 2” and those have to be the cheapest knock-offs I have ever seen. I’m almost certain there is no way those are the new iPhones.
For one there is not now nor will there (probably) ever be a Product Red iPhone line, that will be relegated to the iPod Nano. It also shows speakers being on the bottom, as if Apple would ruin a clean design with speakers that are visible, I think not (and tiny built-in speakers sound awful – also not an Apple thing).
The article also speaks of iChat for Windows, yeah. Windows users have had this option with other software, why in the world would they need (or even want) iChat? Now, iPhoto is another story.
Nothing is official yet, but I just can’t put much stock in their reporting, sorry guys.
In a related story, Engadget has taken just the opposite stance with something that is slightly more believable. This iPhone 2 could be the real thing but Thomas Ricker is less than convinced.
It has been rumored all over the place that the iPhone 2 will have a forward facing camera so you can have video chats via 3G or WiFi network connections. Believable, but I’m not saying anything for certain until Jobs himself says so.
