iPhone 2 aka iPhone 3G just $199 with contract

June 9, 2008

iphone The much anticipated WWDC keynote by Steve Jobs has come and gone.  Some were underwhelmed by it.  I, like my colleague, was as well.  That doesn’t mean there wasn’t some meat in the boredom.

It was all but assured that the iPhone 2, now known as the iPhone 3G was going to be announced and it was, right at the very last.  The 8GB version will run you just $199 when it hits AT&T stores July 11 and a 16GB version will cost $299.

This is no longer rumor, it is a cold, hard fact.  So, let’s see, there was some other stuff at WWDC but frankly, no one cared about that stuff.  I’m certain that 90% of the attendees cared about nothing except the iPhone 3G.

Developers, developer tools, who cares?  Bring us the iPhone update!

In fact, before the iPhone 3G announcement and as the developer part dragged on and on and as more than a few reporters began to doze off (at least in my mind they did), Apple stock began to drop but as soon as the iPhone 3G announcement hit, it went right back up again.

Just goes to show you that no one really cares about the developer part, doesn’t it?
