iPod Nano, Touch revisions coming with iTunes 8.0

iPod Nano, Touch revisions coming with iTunes 8.0 You may want to hold off on that iPod Nano or iPod Touch purchase.  The rumor mill is spinning saying that Apple will release new versions of both in the next two to three weeks.

Sure, if you buy a Mac you get a free iPod with it but free isn’t good enough if it’s not the absolute latest version.  Having less is unacceptable.

Kevin Rose claims that the new iPod Nano will be longer and thinner and that Apple is moving away from the “fat” Nano.  It will also be curvy because the company seems to have gotten into the whole “curvy, wavy” design thing.

As for the new iPod Touch, price cuts are expected as well as “minor” cosmetic changes.  If this is true it’s a good bet that Apple will be replacing the shiny back with either black or white plastic.  Don’t think that it will be too different from the iPhone.  And don’t expect many new features, if it has any at all.

With the release of the new iPod Touch will be iPod 2.1 software which will be served up to both iPod and iPhone users.  Along with that will be iTunes 8.0 which is said to include “a lot” of new features and that it is worth the new version moniker and is not simply a bug fix release.

I have mixed feelings about a new iPod Touch, I like the one I have now but if Apple releases a new one, I have no choice except to buy the new version.  Hopefully the iPod 2.1 software will be a free update to those that already purchased the 2.0 update but I’m not holding my breath.

But, everyone should be excited about iTunes 8.0, perhaps it will take us back to the reliability of the 6.0 days with a host of new features and please, please update the UI, Apple.
