An iPhone glitch or old-fashioned infidelity?

By Dave Parrack

The Apple iPhone is an intelligent and technologically advanced piece of kit, but is it so advanced and intelligent that it can magically take a raunchy picture of its owner, attach it to an email, and then send it to a stranger?

That is the thrust of the question asked on the Apple support forums by a user called Susan042764. She tells how she got hold of her husband’s iPhone and found a picture of him pleasuring himself which he’d attached and sent to a woman in his Yahoo email address book.

As any woman would in such a situation, she asked her hubby about this, and he claims that he never sent the picture to anyone. In fact, the iPhone attached it to an email and put it in his sent folder all by itself. His proof? That someone at the local Apple store told him it was a well-known glitch. Susan concludes her message by asking for confirmation of this glitch.

Unsurprisingly, she is answered by a barrage of replies stating that this glitch doesn’t exist, and that her husband is cheating on her. Not only that but he’s then lying in order to save his own skin, and blaming his poor, innocent iPhone for his misdemeanor.

Intriguingly, two messages in the middle of the confirmations of her worst fears actually side with the husband, with the posters explaining how they’ve also experienced this glitch. The fact that both of these posters have only posted a handful of times, with one being a brand new contributor leads me to call BS.

These two are either the cheating husband trying to back up his own claims or men in similar positions trying to create an excuse in case they ever get caught. The conversation then takes a turn for the worse when someone inquires to the true nature of the picture and we get a graphic description.

The forum thread, found by The Inquirer, is definitely worth a read. But I’d conclude that rather than the iPhone having a glitch, this woman’s marriage has one. Or of course the whole thing could be some kind of wind-up. Who knew Apple fanboys were such fun?
