AppShopper.com makes App Store shopping easier

Tired of waiting for the App Store to load in iTunes? If you want a quicker way of window shopping, or sifting the best from the trash in the App Store then AppShopper.com might just be your best bet.

There’s no denying that the App Store was an invention of sheer genius on Apple’s part, but trying to sort through the myriad of apps available can be a pain. For some of us iPod/iPhone fanatics, we already know what’s hot and we want to get to it as fast as possible without waiting for the App Store to load in iTunes just to shop.

What makes AppShopper such a pleasing alternative to going through the usual iTunes interface? Well, it’s faster and provides a lot of customized viewing options. It allows you to track new apps and keep informed on updates as well as price changes.

You can view by category, sort the apps by paid or free apps. There is also a Top 100 tab for a quick glance at the best-selling apps for the time. If you can’t tear yourself away from your email to check AppShopper periodically then be glad for the RSS feeds. A nifty feature is the different RSS feeds available where you can choose just a specific interest – such as only subscribing to the new free apps feed.

The site’s data isn’t updated real-time, though, and is only refreshed once a day. There is also a blog which is sporadically updated and hasn’t had a new post since early December. Is that a sign the site might not be around long, or that worker elves are too busy collating app data to update? Let’s hope it’s the latter because AppShopper does put a new spin to the whole app buying business for our favorite Apple devices.
