New Apple iPhone could be shrunk in size, price, features

iPhone possibilities
The Apple iPhone is built in Greater China. Rumors coming from there need to be taken seriously. The Chinese newspaper, The Economic Daily News, is in talks with two Taiwanese chipmakers are in talks to produce components for a new iPhone model that will begin shipping in June.
There is no doubt Apple is always talking to its manufacturers and, equally, there is no doubt, on the figures but not on the emotion, that there is a massive market for a low-cost ‘iPhone nano’ that would sacrifice some of the features and capacity of the current iPhone 3G in exchange for a lower price. And a large proportion of that market is in China. Our illustration shows potentially what they might look like.
Apple could gain customers at the low end of the mobile phone market, and increase the iPhone’s market share around the world leave alone.
Recent analyst reports have said that the cheaper device may be geared towards the Asian markets rather than the US, where the company sells two iPhone models through carrier AT&T.
In that they are wrong. There is something working against all this which commentators have missed.
On the Asian market your flash is everything. It is much, much better to have a fake full-size iPhone than a smaller iPhone which has been created to be affordable. If it is small AND contains everything an iPhone has then it will work. It will be referred to as the other phone. The one used when carrying a full size iPhone will spoil the hang of your fake Armanti suit.
In the west this will not apply. And Nokia and others must be quaking in their wellington boots at the thought of an affordable iPhone Nano being launched on the market. It will make life, for them, seriously difficult.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this came to pass, and it could certainly help Apple get through this recession.
