iPod Skype due February

By Gareth Powell

New versions of Skype due February Skype is set to announce new versions of its software application suitable for iPhone and iPod and iPod Touch at Mobile World Congress.

The company has said that it will launch ‘new versions of Skype for various operating systems used in the mobile space,’ as well as ‘partnerships with major handset and mobile technology vendors.’

This seems to suggest you will be able to run Skype by way of Apple’s iPhone within a dedicated app rather than via Truphone.

You can already do it through Apple’s iPod but it is not — all Gods bear witness — easy.

Pocket Lint earlier this month said Skype has announced the release of a lite (their spelling) version of Skype which will work on Android-powered devices, as well as more than 100 other Java-enabled mobile phones.

This means that if you are a constant traveler — journos do a lot of that — you will keep your overseas phone bill down to something reasonable.
