iPhone 3.0 to have copy and paste
By Ronald O Carlson
Since Apple launched its freshman way, way back in 2007, one feature has been on everyone’s wish list—copy and paste. Digg’s Kevin Rose says his sources “have confirmed” this basic functionality will indeed make the cut for the next version of Mobile OS X, aka iPhone OS 3.
This news comes via a MacRumors forum poster who just happened to be at the Live Diggnation—yes, the “rarely sober” crew—event at SXSW last night, where Kevin Rose spilled some of the proverbial beans and on next week’s iPhone 3 special event. Comment poster “BlingBling 3k12 says:
He said it worked like this… you would press and hold a word and a Magnifier type bubble would appear with quotes around the word. Move the quotes around what you want selected and then you can press Copy.
Sadly, the “rarely sober” one also said that iPhone 3 would not include MMS, video capture or background apps, which are three of the Top Four most wished for iPhone features. At this rate—one long overdue, highly desirable feature per year—it will be 2012 before we get all four functions.
That said, Rose has a less than perfect record vis-a-vis predicting upcoming Apple products and features. Sometimes he’s right, often he’s wrong…
Which is it this time?
