The stars have aligned behind an Apple smartphone with twice the capacity, but does that mean the company will share the love across product lines? Assuming there’s anything to rumors of an “iPod touch on steroids” in our collective future, then 64GB might just be one star in a constellation of bigger, faster, better device configurations.

Looking for a hands-free car kit for your iPhone? The Parrot MKi series of hands-free car cell phone kits are touted as the only iPhone-compatible car kits available (though for the record, they do work with many other brands of cell phones). The company headed by Apple’s former iPod chief is using a rather straightforward method to sync their smartphone with Apple’s software. Likewise, Cupertino will likely find it just as easy to block this approach. Is this the beginning of an iTunes sync arms race?

This is perhaps not surprising given the fact that the company is chock full o’ former Apple designers and engineers. However, given how jealously the mothership guards its intellectual property, it’s difficult to imagine that this functionality will last for long.
