NIN iPhone app gets Apple’s blessing

By Ronald O Carlson

Over the weekend, Apple in its infinite wisdom rejected an update of the band’s app over “objectionable material.” That’s right, the application had previously been approved and the offensive stuff was already there, lurking in the shadows, just waiting to be discovered.

Now—what a difference a few days and an unpublishable stream of expletives make—it seems Nine Inch Nails and the App Store censors have found a way to make nice. Ars Technica reports that the Nine Inch Nail (NIN) iPhone app (nin: access, iTunes) update has been approved by Apple, despite the fact that nothing purportedly in the app was changed in the interim.

In a tweet to fans, the band’s frontman Trent Reznor said, “Apple has approved the NIN iPhone app update,” and it “should be live in a few hours.”

On Monday, Reznor unleashed an expletive-lanced rant over Apple’s rejection of the update.

Apple really needs to get out of the censorship business…
