A Chinese iPhone clone that at least looks good
Even though Apple and China Unicom, the purported winner of the right to sell the iPhone in the Middle Kingdom, still can’t get it together enough to even issue a press release, Chinese consumers aren’t completely out of luck. Yes, there are hundreds of thousands of iPhones in use there and there a few clones circulating in the market worthy of the name—this article isn’t about one of those.
Cloned In China (via PMP Today) has the inside dope on the made in China “fake phone with real OS X,” the iPhome 3G. Well, not really, but it looks good and they’ve certainly cribbed a lot from Apple.
OS X is not as easy as the design to copy after all. However, it looks just the same as iPhone 3G, from the size and the weight and the operation. The user interface of iPhome 3G even looks better than the original.
Um, yeah, even better than the real thing.
This device purportedly offers a familiar palette of features: 3.5-inch 320 x 480 display, 400MHz Samsung processor, 4GB storage and 1.3MP camera. That’s the good news. The bad news is that there’s no Wi-Fi, AAC compatibilty or 3G wireless, which makes this clone a bit of a paper tiger, never mind that it’s not even available for sale.
And, when it does go on sale, the iPhome 3G will supposedly carry a $180 price tag, which is about $90 more than a real iPhone 3G…

This phone doesn’t have a Samsung processor. Just like all the other Chinese mobiles it’s based on the MTK platform. Cool features, but not quite as pimp as this article says it is.

iPhone 3G is simply the best phone that i have owned. It is very stylish and its nice features. I also own an N97 but i like the iphone.
