Jim connect your ipod to iTunes and hold shift while you hit the restore button. Allows you to select what file to restore with. My $10 os 3.0 still won’t install this trick at least got me back to 2.21

What gripes my ass big-time with Apple is that once you upgrade, downgrading is impossible. I have tried every trick in the book to get back to 2.21 on my iPod Touch and have failed. I am beginning to smell microsoft rats lurking in the woodwork.

My take?

Maybe, like me, most iPod Touch users love the look, feel, and sound of their devices, but use them 99% for listening. Maybe, like me, iTunes upgrades have caused them grief as often as they provided enhanced functionality, and they’re tired of going through reinstalls and multi-step remedies to restore functionality. Maybe, like me, they resent Apple’s steady attempts to control how we use our devices. Maybe, now that there’s a price tag attached as well, we’re realizing how much this all reminds us of our experiences with Microsoft.

To WHAT THE FUCK APPLE:

Close iTunes, connect your Ipod touch to the usb cable, press and hold the home key and power button at the same time. Hold them both for 5 seconds even after the connect to itunes screen appears. Then open Itunes. it should give you a message about the iPod being in recovery mode. Click restore. iTunes will download the original software for the phone (probably 2.2.1) and install it. All is fixed. I am having the same problem trying to install 3.0, it just won’t do it.

MY IPOD TOUCH is brand new, and i just got an e-mail about how getting the latest update would make my TOUCH better in some ways, so I clicked the link and now it keeps telling me even after several restores, thatb “an error has occured” and now my Touch doesnt even turn on anymore!!!!

3.0 stinks! Slows down certain apps, disables others and if you do not purchase Apple’s own video out cables for about $50. -US- Vs. $5. on eBay the video gets disabled. What a rip! Apple your becoming a company we can no longer trust!

no audio in skype and voicemail does not work. if anyone has a fix let me know. also i cannot listen to my magic jack wav files that came in my email like i could before the update. if you have any solutions let me know
