The launch of iPhone MMS services by AT&T has brought a huge number of scareware vendors out of the woodwork, making a shambles of searches which involve the terms MMS and iPhone.

Just when the news app market seemed to be settling into competent mediocrity, along comes a new pay-to-play, commercial piece of software that puts the others to shame, reminding us once of the sage advice of the ancients — caveat emptor (let the buyer beware). San Francisco is the center of gravity in the tech world and what happens there reverberates around the nation and world. Thereupon, Ma Bell could have the digerati singing their praises if they could do just one simple thing — make calls go through a reasonable percentage of the time in that one city. Why is that so hard?
