iPhone, iPod, Mac rule PCMag’s service, reliability survey

September 17, 2009

If Apple paid someone to make this stuff up, it probably couldn’t turn out much better. Get ready for a slew of new advertisements created in Cupertino reminding Windows Mobile, Vista and Zune users who’s still head and shoulders above the crowd — the best of the best of the best of the best, sir!

PCMag has announced the results of their 22nd Annual Reader Satisfaction Survey — or in the case of everyone but Apple, dissatisfaction survey — and our favorite has taken top honors the four categories it directly competes in.

“The Service and Reliability Survey offers our readers a great opportunity to let the world know what products and services give them the greatest return on their investments,” says PCMag.com editor-in-chief, Lance Ulanoff. “Not only are we at PCMag.com anxious to see the results every year, but the manufacturers and service providers we cover are also eager to see what we find, and often, if need be, will modify their products and services accordingly.”

Cell Phones

“Despite its problems, the iPhone is the most beloved phone among our readers—hands down.”

Notebooks

“MacBooks of all shapes garner high marks from our readers.”

Desktops

“John Hodgman’s campaign against the Mac continues to be a losing battle, at least among the readers of PCMag, who for the umpteenth year in a row gave Apple high marks.”

Portable Media Players

“Was there any question that the iPod, a name synonymous with handheld media, would propel Apple to another Readers’ Choice? Of course there wasn’t.”

As noted in the lead, PCMag’s article copy is fecund source for iPhone, Mac and iPod advertisements — not to mention punchlines for John Hodgman’s PC character to riff on — the year to come and then some.

That said, does anyone doubt that Apple lead by the iPhone will take the top spot in each of these categories again next year? The competition is exactly stiff…
