iPhone OS 3.1.2 patches network issue, kills current jailbreak
The usual passel of patches and bug fixes, as well as Apple’s latest volley in the now largely pointless serve and return contest between the company and jailbreakers — whatever. Here’s a quick thumbnail glance at what’s new and hopefully been fixed this time around.
Cult of Mac brings us news of iPhone OS 3.1.2, which arrives weighing the customary 200+ megabytes (it’s the whole OS) and, according to Apple’s usually highly (*cough*) descriptive descriptions, here’s what’s inside:
• Resolves sporadic issue that may cause iPhone to not wake from sleep
• Resolves intermittent issue that may interrupt cellular network services until restart
• Fixes bug that could cause occasional crash during video streaming
• Clearly, it indicates no new features, unless there are some hidden ones
And, yes, once again, iPhone OS 3.1.2 breaks the current jailbreak, such as it is (Pfft!), so if you’re into this sort of thing, you need to wait for the new version of the hack that breaks this latest fix.
Lastly, if you’re the kind guy or gal — real women code — who likes to look around under the hood and maybe do a little of you’re own redecorating, download iPhone OS 3.1.2 right to your desktop courtesy of these handy dandy links (via Cult of Mac): iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS.
