Get music, movies off your iPhone, iPod to your Mac

November 25, 2009

Whether you’re just backing up or trying restore after a crash, here’s an attractively designed, easy-to-use and free (i.e. beer-fueled speech) application that gets your music, videos and playlists off of your iPhone or iPod and onto your Mac.

Pod to Mac (free, 2.2MB) lets you copy or transfer music, videos and playlists—you select individual items or simply grab the lot—from your iPhone or iPod to your Mac. Just tether your handheld and fire up the application, and the interface is self-explanatory.

As you can you can select everything or individual tracks, as well as copy your stuff to iTunes, the desktop or any folder of your choosing. Also, the Automatic Transfer option will dump the iPod’s entire contents to whatever location’s specified in the prefs.

Free software that rocks

Pod to Mac is the love child of Chris Devor who’s been actively developing this app for at least two years (i.e. release notes only go back that far), meaning this app’s been around and likely will continue to be. Further, Pod to Mac has earned five star user ratings on both MacUpdate and VersionTracker with nearly 6,000 downloads of this version alone.
