Just about everyone has been standing in front of a wall of TVs in a big box department store and wondered if they could possibly find a cheaper deal online. In the past you had to write down the information, go home to check the prices and if you find the store is cheaper, it’s inevitably cheaper at the store which necessitates you making another trip. Thanks to the wonder of free iPhone and iPod Touch shopping apps you can do all of at one shot, and if it’s cheaper online you can even place an order while you’re on the go!

Amazon Mobile: While the main purpose of the Amazon Mobile app is shopping, it can also be used as a great research tool while you are out in the stores. Use it to look up prices, reviews from customers and you can use it to store pictures of items you find so you can reference it later, or Amazon will even help you figure out an item you find at someone’s house or on the street by uploading the image to them. Oh yeah, and you can actually order items on your account with it.

B&N Bookstore: The Barnes & Noble app will allow you to browse their wide selection of books, DVDs, CDs, toys and more while also letting you set your local store as a favorite and see what specials it is currently running.

Best Buy: Best Buy’s app allows you to visually browse Best Buys inventory, place orders, locate the nearest physical store, read reviews and several other features that makes it one of the more fully featured shopping applications.

Best Buy – Gamer’s Club: A second app from Best Buy, but this one focuses solely on video games and keeps you up to date on all of the latest specials, finding the closes local stores, making shopping lists and more.

eBay Mobile: Think something in a store is just too expensive? Why not surf eBay to see if you can find it cheaper while you’re still in the store? You have full access for the most part to your account, search, ability to save searches, check watched items and just about everything else you could want to do with eBay.

My Mall Shopping: My Mall Shopping allows you to build a virtual mall to your liking from the retailers it works with. Now you can check numerous online retailers at once when you are out shopping so that you can see if you would get a better deal online.

Target: The Target department store chain app allows you to check the weekly sales circular, access gift and wedding registries, create your own shopping lists, use the gift finder to help you choose gifts for people and more features.

Walmart: The Walmart app is fairly new and somewhat limited in its features as it focuses mainly on electronics for now, along with locating stores, it does have one nifty feature in the “Try It Out” feature. Use your iPhone camera to take a picture of the room you plan to put a TV in and it can help you figure out the perfect size screen to fit in the area.

Yahoo Shopping: Use the Yahoo Shopping app to check prices and product reviews while on the go. You can calculate shipping & tax, look up items by UPC code to make sure you’re getting the right item, email products to friends and more.
