It seems that maybe AT&T in the U.S. is not the only wireless carrier suffering from bandwidth-itis, as the O2 system in Great Britain is showing some of the same signs of failure over there.

Even as Apple gears up to present its next insanely great product, the iSlate, last year’s sleeper Christmas hit is getting even more popular. Although seen as the crippled cousin of the company’s zeitgeist defining smartphone, the iPod touch is now at least as popular and perhaps even more so than the iPhone.

After a confusing night and morning, it is apparently still true that AT&T is no longer taking orders for the iPhone online if you live in New York City, though the reason is being spun this way and that.

Last week, we heard about the Ma Bell customer support rep who suggested a Brooklyn iPhone user try using Skype instead of using the carrier’s besieged and generally unreliable voice network there. Now, more strange news out of New York City as Ma Bell’s Web site won’t sell iPhones to folks with zip codes in that city.

New rumors have surfaced via the Apple supply chain route that Apple will be fielding a CDMA version of the iPhone in 2010, which would be a sure sign that Verizon will soon be selling the Apple handset.
