iPhone apps: Go ‘postal’ on your iPhone with USPS Mobile

December 3, 2009

Sometimes the mailman gets a bad rap, but I’m a huge fan of their ubiquitous staffed locations, Saturday delivery and “if it fits, it ships” flat rate shipping boxes. Now, just in time for the holidays, there’s another reason to be grateful for the United State Postal Service.

Our friends at the post office have finally delivered USPS Mobile (free, iTunes), an application for the iPhone and iPod touch designed to make easy to ship and track your packages.

With USPS Mobile you can:

• Use Track & Confirm to track your Express Mail shipments and check the status of packages sent with other services. You label number will automatically be saved, so you can easily keep tabs on your packages or mail until they’re delivered.

• Find USPS locations when you need to get to a Post Office, Automated Postal Center or collection box. You’ll see your closest options and even see your results on a map to get driving, walking or transit directions. Or search for locations anywhere in the country.

• Look up ZIP codes

Also, don’t miss UPS Mobile and Fedex Mobile, both of which are free and help you shipping on those eponymous services.
