Here, File File: The killer iPhone file sharing app?

December 5, 2009

One area where the iPhone and iPod touch just don’t measure up is the ability to easily share files between your computer and back again. Although the app isn’t here yet, one company is promising a lot and they’re saying it’ll arrive in January.

Have you ever wished you could just mount your iPhone or iPod touch like any other external storage device, like the original iPods? Really, they’re just glorified portable storage devices and should offer this little bit of functionality.

Well, Here, File File promises not only file portability, but the ability to remotely browse and access files on and volumes connected to your Mac. So, you get access to all of your stuff, including your music and movies.

Obviously, the folks who made the video took a few liberties vis-a-vis compressing time and how fast things actually happen, but it’s still an impressive demo nonetheless and a product I’m eagerly awaiting.

There’s a sign up (email list) on the Here, File File site. Then again, I’m already signed up and as is every other iPhone and iPod touch toting journalist and blogger out there (we all use Macs), so save yourself the spam.

Does Here, File File look like the killer iPhone file sharing app or what?
