WallDock: Charge your iPhone, touch anywhere there’s an outlet

December 7, 2009

This is certainly a simple and attractively designed widget. And, there’s definitely a crying need for a iPod and iPhone charging solution that doesn’t involve a knot of cables occupying valuable USB ports.

Digital Lifestyle Outfitters (DLO) have released the WallDock, a $24.99 widget that plugs into a wall outlet and can charge an iPhone or iPod.

The WallDock is compatible with all iPhones, 1G & 2G iPod touch, all iPod nanos and recent generations of the iPod classic. Also, DLO claims that its widget has a power output, meaning that your widgets will charge faster.

A cool looking widget that fills a crying need, but I can’t help but wondering if it has to be plugged into the lower socket? If the WallDock (someone please send me one) does for some odd reason require positioning down low, blocking the top socket, that’s a serious design flaw…

What’s your take?
