Is your Chevy volt charged? There’s an app for that…
Well, at least there will be app when General Motors (GM) ships their all-electric vehicle in the fourth quarter of 2010. Yes, there will also be similar software for the Blackberry, but using that to manage and control your über cool electric vehicle would be just so 2006.
The Chevy Volt fan boy blog brings us news that when the carmaker ships its revolutionary all-electric vehicle next year, you will be able to check the charge status and even control when the Volt charges using your iPhone.

“Besides controlling when to charge the car, I could see these applications receiving signals from the car as well, indicating when charging is completed and if the driver forgot to plug it in at some time interval after arriving home,” writes GM-Volt.com. “Having forgotten to plug in my MINI E several times, I can assure you this function will be useful.”
Yes, sadly that is a Blackberry shown in the picture above, but a quick glance at the web this morning yields nary a headline that mentions that device. So, guys, next time Photoshop an iPhone into the picture if you want to gain maximum exposure.
Then again, it could have been worse—the picture could have shown a Windows Mobile device…
What’s your take?
