Apple aims to Bing Google off iPhone, claims report
If Redmond and Cupertino really are talking about a mobile search alliance in opposition to Google, then indeed the worm has truly turned. Even just a year ago, who would’ve thought any such thing was possible?
Bloomberg reports that Apple and Microsoft have been in talks for two weeks — the mothership apparently wants to replace Google on the iPhone with Bing.
“To the extent that it threatens Google, such a deal would be good for Apple,” said James McQuivey, analyst, Forrester Research.
Wow. It was only in August of last year that Google CEO Eric Schmidt left Apple’s board of directors and now Apple’s getting into to bed with Microsoft — the great satan of computing — in opposition to their one-time ally?
Moreover, it’s long been rumored that Apple’s working on its own mapping service for the iPhone, which would all but eliminate Google from Apple’s market leading smartphone.
Hey, if this Microsoft + Apple pairing works out, perhaps they should consider inviting China to the party — everyone knows they’ve got an axe to grind, too…
What’s you take?

I am an android person because of ATT’s network issues in my area. I have to admit this would definitely be a powerful alliance in the mobile internet arena and would indeed help both companies gain on Google’s dominance of those essential applications.
