4G iPhone rumors circle and recirculate
Although talk of the iPad is still hot and heavy, some folks are now turning their attention to Apple’s next-generation smartphone and there’s fresh info, as well as a repurposed rumor from last month to mull over.
The A4 chip will make its debut in the iPad, but nearly everyone with an imagination expects Apple’s first ever custom processor, or at least iterations thereof, will also have a starring role in the iPhone and iPod touch. Given these devices’ already pleasingly snappy performance, here’s hoping this bit o’ fanboy generated wishful thinking is part of Apple’s 4G smartphone product planning.
There’s further speculation that last month’s rumor that Apple was hoarding OLED wasn’t wrong, just misapplied. Whereas the iPad in fact uses a backlit LCD, it’s now believed that the mothership will follow Google’s Nexus One lead and equip its next-gen smartphone with a larger 3.7 inch or least that’s what these 4G iPhone part received by ResQ indicate.
Lastly, if you combine these rumors, it’s apparent that the 4G iPhone will be bigger and brighter. With a higher spec’d processor and, obviously, more space inside, it seems reasonable to expect more RAM and more storage. That is, Apple could kit out its new handhelds with more lower capacity flash chips, helping to cut costs.
