In the alternate universe inhabited by elite iPhone hackers and software pirates, this has got to be like becoming an Eagle Scout. Or, perhaps more appropriately, like the authors of ’60s and ’70s trashy grocery store novels getting a publicity boost by being banned in Boston.

The folks that brought us the Opera browser for the PC are now saying that they will demonstrate their truly different smartphone browser on the iPhone next week, and that they would like Apple to approve it as an app.

Apple has issued an update for the iPhone / Touch operating systems to close five security flaws, four of which were sufficiently serious that they would have allowed an exploiter to execute software on the target device.
