iPodNN reports that the iPhone Developer Center is offline with Apple’s traditional (above left), “We’ll be back soon” graphic greeting site visitors.
As any seasoned Apple watcher knows, the appearance of this message often presages important changes in the company’s product line up. The most common usage is when Apple adds, updates or subtracts products from the online Apple Store.
Thereupon, some speculate that Apple’s updating the iPhone Developer Center site so in can start accepting submissions of iPad apps. Also, it’s believed that the company will soon begin taking iPad pre-orders via the Apple Store and this move could be part of general house keeping ahead such a move.
Whatever the case, expect both informed and wanton speculation about the iPad rollout to amplify as the Apple’s still unannounced ship date — March 26 is the current odds on favorite — approaches…
