Nexus One selling slower than first generation iPhone
The would be iPhone killer that isn’t. In fact, in the same amount of time it took Apple to sell its first million world changing original iPhones, Google’s Nexus One will have sold only about one-eighth that number.
Quoting data from market metrics firm Flurry, Bloomberg reports that Google’s Nexus One, which many heralded as an iPhone killer, isn’t living up to expectations. Specifically, whereas it took Apple 74 days to sell its one millionth iPhone, Google’s latest entrant into the smartphone sweepstakes will have sold only about 135,000 by that mark.
But, AT&T’s gonna start selling the Nexus One and then it’ll really take off, right? Well, perhaps not.
As rightly noted by Christian Science Monitor, the AT&T compatible Nexus One won’t be offered at subsidized pricing, so it will require (really) willing buyers to fork over $529.
Can I get a hallelujah from chorus?
“As successful and talented as Google is online with paid search and other kinds of related businesses, the hardware business is very different,” said Peter Farago, vice president, marketing, Flurry.
That said, if you happen to be thinking that you could get five iPhone 3Gs or two iPhone 3GS’ or even an iPad for the same money, then you’d be absolutely right. In fact, if you’re a Pennsylvania resident, like me, $529 is enough to get a 16GB iPad and cover the sales tax (6 percent).
Of course, you can still get a Nexus One from T-Mobile. Then again, maybe not…
What’s your take?

Firstly, EVERYONE is quoting those flurry stats.
Lets think about this shall we?
When the first gen iphone was released, it was released globally in stores simultaneously (give or take a few hours). The N1, up until recently, has been available from the google website only to a limited number of countries. therefore you arent comparing apples with apples (so to speak). So basically, comparing theses sales figures is an utterly retarded comparison to make.
Secondly, OUTSIDE of the US (in the UK anyway) the N1 will be sold through high street stores via contracts which will either a) as cheap as iphone contracts or b)cheaper than iphone contracts. ie they will be highly competitative.
What an awful, narrow minded and ill-informed article.
