Trade in your old junk for an iPhone 4 at Radio Shack

June 14, 2010

Yes, the Apple Store, AT&T retail, Best Buy and Wal-Mart will be open bright and early on June 24. However, it looks like the real action will be at The Shack, a.k.a. your daddy’s electronics store, where you’ll be able to trade in your older gear for discount on the Apple smartphone of your dreams, the iPhone 4.

EWeek reports that the iPhone 4 will available just about everywhere on launch day, June 24. Thousands AT&T, Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Radio Shack and Apple Store locations around the nation.

Thereupon, in addition to the Apple Store, our friends at Wal-Mart, AT&T and Radio Shack will start taking pre-orders from June 15, which is a huge expansion of the program.

However, the sweetest deal can only be found at The Shack. Although it’s not at all certain what devices they will accept, Radio Shack will apply the estimated value of older consoles, phones, etc. toward the purchase of an iPhone 4.

So, call your local Radio Shack and bug them to tell what that old PS/2 will net us and leave a note in the comments.

Nevertheless, unless you’re a new AT&T customer — yes, you have to sign a two-year contract — you’ll have to upgrade and that’s only open to folks whose contracts are already due or come due this year. To check AT&T upgrade eligibility, iPhone owners can dial *639# and everyone else should visit www.att.com/iphone.

I’ll just start by addressing a couple of points, you do realize cap and trade and the PPACA were both first proposed by Republicans, right?
