Top 10 best free iPhone and Touch news apps
Perhaps the most hottest, most-competitive segment of the iPhone app business is news. The Wall Street Journal and New York Times get all of the ink for the efforts to make us pay, but there’s innovation happening in this space. Come inside for the real story.
#1 NPR News — For my money, NPR is hands down the best news source and with this app you get access to the entire network, including a lot of specialty/niche content you won’t find anywhere else.
#2 ABC News — I like the app for three reasons almost every weekday morning: ABC News Now Update, Business Update and Tech Bytes.
#3 Mobile RSS Free — Get your lips around the fire hose, the Google RSS newsfeed fire hose — the wires, newspapers, networks and more.

Fox News has the most loyal, least-fragmented viewer base and that impact is felt on the iTunes App Store where you’ll find these four apps solidly anchored in the Top 10.
#4 The Fox News Factor
• Fox News
• Fox Business
• Fox News Radio Mobile
• Fox News UReport
#5 Discovery News — Get and stay up-to-date on the latest scientific breakthroughs and cutting-edge technologies with a palatable balance between industry and green.
#6 Fluent News Reader — Aggregates made-for-mobile versions of top news sources into a single, intelligently organized, fully-customizable newspaper.
#7 Daily News Mobile — New York’s hometown paper and broadsheet to the world. News, sports, opinion and, of course, the gossip that makes Gotham the talk of the town.
Cool iPad news apps:
#8 BBC News — Aside from a relative handful of NPR stations and late night on PBS, BBC doesn’t have a huge imprint in the US. Still, it’s one of the most-respected news organizations on the planet with unrivaled scope and resources.
#9 World Mobile News — Just want the BBC’s World News stream without all of that UK content? This is the news app for you.
#10 News & Video from Consumer Reports — If you wanna buy it, then you need to check with Consumer Reports before you pull the plastic from pocket.

The Consumer Reports app is almost universally condemned by reviews on the iTunes page. It provides no reviews and is just an ad to get you to subscribe to the magazine. I doubt you looked at any of these apps. Last time for me at this web site.

I find it odd that you even consider Fox as news…
