CDMA iPhone coming, says Der Gruber
So, it must be true. Seriously, can you remember the last, or even first, time Apple’s curmudgeonly Philadelphia spokesman was wrong? And, he’s saying that an early January announcement is when it’s all officially going to start happening.
Daring Fireball claims that there’s a CDMA iPhone lurking in the secret places of Apple’s 1 Infinite Loop campus in Cupertino and that it has an internal name, N92. Further, he adds that in terms of development it’s currently in the engineering verification phase, which I assume means working out the final design kinks and that someone in Asia’s, sources have said Pegatron, has begun piecing together the assembly process.
• Gruber says he has no information about a CDMA being carried by Verizon
— China, Brazil and other countries also have significant CDMA networks
• Now is the critical juncture where Apple should start going in earnest for market share
• At least 1-million units (vs. 1.7-milion iPhone 4s) would sell the first weekend
Of course, if you want to go for market share in the US, the biggest wireless player is Verizon and their network, at least until LTE arrives, is CDMA…
What’s your take?

It’s about timing. The Pegatron rumor has been around here for more than half year, I even read a 壹週刊 (yes, the no.1 gossip weekly) article about Terry Kuo and T.H. Tung were talking shit to each other regarding to the iPhone order many month ago.
