Barnes & Noble Ships Nook for iPhone 2.0

August 17, 2010

A bit of rebranding and updated feature set in an app that’s Retina Display ready. Moreover, this isn’t a universal app — it has been built specifically for the iPhone and iPod touch, not the iPad.

Barnes & Noble has released Nook for iPhone 2.0 (iTunes, free), which was previously known as B&N Reader. Unlike a lot of other whole-number software updates, this one actually comes to market with significant changes both visible and under the hood.

      • User customizable color themes

      • Star ratings for books

      • Day and night screen presets
      — Independent screen brightness setting

      • Retina Display optimized

      • Barnes & Noble’s LendMe feature
      — (1) title at a time for up to 14 days

      • eBook cover art support

Barnes & Noble also offers Nook for iPad 2.2 (iTunes, free).
