The latest on the Verizon and white iPhones
The two biggest things in the Apple rumor mill right now concern the Verizon iPhone and the white iPhone, which may be a sad state of affairs with an iPod event coming up. Still, what about those iPhones?
Apple, of course, has a big show scheduled for Wednesday and you never can tell what Apple is likely to announce at one of their shindigs. Still, hopes are waning that Wednesday’s show will have anything to do with the iPhone at all; it is, after all, a scheduled iPod even, and as such should concentrate on music, which appears to be the theme of the event, and not on a mobile handset. The handset does not need the hype, in truth, with ship dates still running three weeks behind order dates a couple of months after introduction.
According to a Beatweek story, the most iPhone news that we can expect out of Wednesday’s scheduled iPod event would be an off-handed remark about the white iPhone finally being ready to ship. So far, the iPhone 4 has only been available in black and there is apparently a lot of demand built up for the white model. Often, Apple would just announce the availability via a change on the company Web site and then let the tech press spread the word from there, something that the media is always ready to do. Still, since it does play music, the white iPhone could get a mention on Wednesday.
As for the Verizon iPhone, one can be assured that we would have many more rumors, flying thick and fast, prior to an announcement on that front, and that the event itself would be heralded at a much higher level than Wednesday’s. There have been a lot of interesting rumors about a Verizon iPhone since the iPhone 4 was announced, but none of them point to a date any earlier than January 2011 for an announcement on that front. So what’s the latest on the Verizon and white iPhones? Sadly, not much.
