Verizon LTE iPhone spotted

November 7, 2010

The seemingly credible rumors to date have been almost categorical that the release of a Long Term Evolution (LTE) + CDMA compatible iPhone isn’t in the cards for 2011. Nevertheless, rumors of just such a device persist.

Who’s afraid of a little email inbox cruft? Today’s iPhone received a bit o’ verbiage and image that purportedly shows a real, living, breathing Verizon LTE iPhone.

An anonymous source has just given us an interesting nugget: A photo of what looks like the Verizon iPhone. And that’s not all — check out the upper left corner. See what it says there? That’s right, “Verizon LTE.” In other words, this looks like it could be a Verizon iPhone that supports the carrier’s 4G network.”

Easy to fake? Well, of course, just about anything digital can be convincingly faked. Although Today’s iPhone says the image has been examined for signs of Photoshop fakery — level, curve and other telltale settings — working up an imagine and then placing on the iPhone (jailbroken + MakeItMine) would be relatively easy.

Nevertheless, we will see LTE iPhones eventually. Will it be sooner or later?

Obviously fake. No time in the top center. Phone is jailbroken and they just changed what appears in the top.

There is a program on Cydia called “make it mine” that allows a user to display any text they want in place of the carriers name. You can put your name there, you can put “Verizon LTE” just as easily.

There is no need to photoshop it. More obvious is that the springboard of this phone is decorated as if it is 3.x — hard to believe Apple would still be screwing with pre 4.0 iOS on such a device.

    Obvious fake.
