iBooks ‘collections’ coming soon

November 27, 2010

What’s all of this then? A useless “playlist” feature for the written word or a much needed organizational tool for folks with more books than memory capacity? Perhaps a little bit of both, but this feature is said to be definitely on the way.

9 to 5 Mac claims that a collections feature is coming in the next iBooks (iTunes, free) iteration. In terms of functionality it will be very much like folders in iOS 4.2.x.

So, you will be able organize your books into folders.

Other new features coming in the iBooks update include the ability to email PFDs and print the entire document or just a snippet.

Don’t know if I’ll use it, but placing books into a folder called “queue” certainly could be helpful — I’ve got more than a few I want to read and keeping that list in my head isn’t the method most likely to succeed…

What’s your take?
