Every so often the mothership does something to once again pique the ire of the tinfoil hat crowd — Apple wants to take over the world and here’s proof! Being an unreformed Kool-Aid drinker, I’m of the opinion that Steve Jobs already controls the world and these details, come and go as they do, signify nothing.

There once was a time when the iPhone was the king of the data consumption hill. No more as a new study shows that those bad (mostly) boys carrying Androids, specifically the Samsung Galaxy and HTC Desire, have a big appetite for bits and bytes, though iPhone 4 owners are no slouches.

Two years ago, it was unusual to see a 10-year-old that wasn’t glued to the DS death-gripped in his hands. Well, although the kiddies are still walking around playing games, the devices they’re using have changed and the trend is away from Nintendo and Sony.

Around mid-year, the mothership was predicting a near 50-percent share of the mobile advertising market. However, at least source is predicting the Cupertino, California-based Mac, iPad, iPhone and iPod maker isn’t going to earn even one-fifth of that ambitious goal.
