Verizon iPhone announcement rumored for 1/11/11 at 11
Back when I lived in Taiwan, everything from lotto numbers to the date we moved house and the hour my wife delivered by C-section to the day we left to come here was determined by an astrologer or soothsayer of some kind — c’est la vie, qui est le bon mariage! Who would’ve thunk Apple would go in for such numerological determinism?
News.com reports that Verizon COO Lowell McAdam will announce the iPhone on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at 11 in the morning. If you write all of that plain numeric form it comes out 1/11/11 at 11am, which I’m guessing somebody thinks is really cool.
On Friday, the company sent reporters an invitation to a press event hosted by Lowell McAdam, Verizon’s chief operating officer. The event, which will take place at Lincoln Center [NYC], is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. ET.
Thereupon, All Things D adds that none other than Steven Paul Jobs will make an appearance. As of press time, Elvis’ attendance at Tuesday’s event could not be confirmed in advance.
Don’t need to think about numbers to pick for Tuesday’s Mega Millions draw now…
What’s your take?

Far from being an insiders, the Verizon rep at the local mall just told me “That Wall Street Journal guy starts that rumor every few months”he told me it will instead be an announcement about 4g service.
The AT&T guys at the mall do believe there will be an iPhone announcement, though they pointed out that the Apply 30 day return policy makes any new product announcement (iPad Two?) unlikely until after Jan 25, to minimize returns of Christmas gifts.
