Android: Let the bloodbath begin…
Whether we’re looking at a one-off, short-term event or a rather permanent alteration of the marketplace can be argued. However, what isn’t open to interpretation is that the threat of broader iPhone distribution here in the U.S. is already negatively impacting on Android sales.
Quoting Sanjay Jha, CEO, Motorola Mobility, News.com reports that the mere threat of the iPhone has already hit Android sales on Verizon. That is, during Moto’s Q4 analyst conference call, he said the company experienced a sales slowdown.
“Since the announcement of the iPhone, we have seen a little slow down in our sell through of devices at Verizon,” Jha said. “There was anticipation of devices coming to Verizon even prior the announcement of the iPhone.”
Yeah, everybody’s biggest quarter and Motorola Android devices took hit because people were anticipating the February arrival of the iPhone on Verizon, which has been to date Moto’s strongest carrier. The company says it shipped 4.9 million smartphones instead of the 5.2 million that was expected.

I agree.
The iPhone on Verizon and a carrier free iPAD pretty much spell the end of Android’s supposely stellar growth.
They’ll be falling one by one until they’ll be none left standing.
Who knows. Maybe this will eventually allow or tempt Google to go head-to-head against Apple- the final stand??
