White no thicker than black
The first thing I saw when folks began claiming the white iPhone is thicker than the black version was the halo glow common in photographs of things that are white. That is, it only looks thicker and Phil Schiller’s tweet on the subject did nothing to calm this tempest in a teapot. Now we have definitive proof — a girth certificate.
When it comes to the iPhone, Consumer Reports is a bit schizophrenic — on the one hand writing they can’t recommend it and with the other writing Apple’s smartphone is the publication’s top rated device. Whatever.
Now, however, Consumer Reports has succumbed to reason and presented irrefutable proof that the white iPhone is not in fact thicker than the black iPhone

For the conspiratorially minded, the second photo is the only proof that will do. Seriously, what can you with a pair of calipers and where the heck is “The Donald” gone when we need a soundbite…
