Android, iPhone gain as Blackberry, Nokia, Moto wither

July 29, 2011

Whether here in the U.S. or internationally, the second calendar quarter of 2011 wasn’t good for the old guard with RIM, Nokia and Motorola struggling to hang on. And, the winners? You know all about them.

Pencil iPhone 5 in for mid-September

July 28, 2011

We’ve been hearing rumors for months, but the sources behind the whispers are starting to triangulate around a look, features and even retailers plans to add employees for the rollout. On the latter, Best Buy, AT&T, Verizon and, yes, even Apple Store are purportedly putting people on in August and September.

What’s new in iOS 4.3.5, 4.2.10

July 26, 2011

Though it’s all but certain the bad guys know about it, Apple is at least ahead of the media curve this around. A few weeks ago Cupertino papered over a PDF vulnerability and now they’re back to put a cork into another.

iOS 5′s iPod touch 3G toggle switch

July 24, 2011

Some people have scoffed at the notion of an always connected 3G iPod touch. I’ve praised the idea and will buy one, assuming of course that Apple actually makes it and no contract is required. Still, I’m not yet convinced it will and won’t be holding my breath until September.

iPhone next testing on AT&T, say sources

July 18, 2011

Whatever you call it, iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S, Apple’s next-generation smartphone is said to be in the hands of beta testers running loose on AT&T’s network. Taking this rumor the requisite 10lbs bag of salt, whispers that the device, or devices depending on who you want to believe, will ship in September seem about right.

July 16, 2011

If you’ve been waiting for a cheap iPhone, this just might be your opportunity. Granted, this is a two-year-old smartphone, but it’s one that will be getting Apple’s next major mobile operating system update. Why’s that important? Well, there are tons of “new” Android phone that will never get any updates.
