What iPhone? Sprint schedules Oct 7 media event
Verizon is generally not so fast and AT&T is renowned for spotty, sometimes unreliable service. Thereupon, rumors that the number three carrier here in the U.S. will be getting the iPhone come Fall have lots of people talking. That is, pretty much everyone except the folks working in Sprint’s retail outlets.
Last week we noted the oft repeated rumor that Sprint will get the iPhone 5, which is widely expected to ship in October.
Yes, these rumors, which are largely being taken at face value, have generated a lot of buzz. Naturally, some people have gone to their local Sprint store to inquire.
According to SprintFeed, which says they’ve seen an internal Sprint memo on the subject, Sprint retail employees are being instructed to reply “no comment” to any and all iPhone queries. Why hasn’t Sprint told retail employees to say the iPhone rumors are false? Well, the obvious take away is that the iPhone is indeed coming.
If customers get pushy, associates are to tell their interrogators to check Sprint’s Newsroom where there’s no information, confirmation or denial, about the iPhone.
So, we should check back often because something’s coming? That’s in the implication.
And, now, This Is My Next reports that Sprint has scheduled a media event for Oct. 7, the consensus date for the iPhone 5′s arrival, to discuss a “strategy update.”
