Not again! Apple lost another iPhone prototype
No police report has been filed in this particular incident, but the details are already familiar. An apple employee, hopefully not Gray Powell, left an iPhone 5 prototype in a San Francisco “tequila lounge” whereafter it might have been sold on Craigslist. I’m guessing Gizmodo wasn’t the buyer.
The internet is alive with a rumor that another Apple employee in another bar has lost another iPhone prototype.
Last year, Brian Hogan applied the five finger discount to an iPhone prototype carried by Apple engineer Gray Powell. This year, although we don’t know the names (yet), an iPhone 5 prototype was left in Cava22, a Mission District (!!!) bar in San Francisco, walked away and was purportedly sold on Craigslist for $200.
The incident supposedly happened in late July. The police don’t have any details to leak because Apple didn’t file a police report.
However, according to News.com, Apple traced the prototype to a home in San Francisco’s Bernal Heights neighborhood. Police and Apple security apparently spoke with an individual there who admitted to being in Cava22 on the night in question, but denied any knowledge of the iPhone.
Cava22 owner Jose Valle recalled receiving multiple calls from a person last month about a lost iPhone, but said he hadn’t be contact by the police or Apple.
“I guess I have to make my drinks a little less strong,” Valle quipped.
Ridiculous, just ridiculous…
What’s your take?
