Top 10 Best New iOS 5 Apps
The early bird gets the worm, or so hope a handful of iOS app developers. And, what about all of the new features + functions + apps the mothership’s building into iOS 5? Yeah, there’s a lot to mull over and this is a great place to start with insight on Apple most powerful mobile operating system ever.
10. Camera+ — Yes, the best (no need to believe me, let Lisa Bettany convince you) iPhone camera is compatible with the “upcoming OS that must not be named,” and has been since August.
09. Mashable — Here’s another early to the finish line that’s also incredibly popular, assuming you’re into that whole Silicon Valley vibe. Whatever, you need news and this is an awesome source.
08. Facebook — Who isn’t tired of waiting for Facebook for the iPad, or worse, suffering with the iPhone version on the iPad? The wait is almost over for the real deal.
07. Twitter — With tight Twitter integration one of iOS 5′s hot new features, it’s a sure bet that the picture painted by the app’s upcoming refresh will inspire more than 140 characters of response. Are you ready to enter your credentials once and Tweet everywhere? Me too!
06. Voice Assistant — Voice recognition and device control that really works? The devil will be in the implementation, as will the angels. Nevertheless, I’m really looking forward to this OS level integrated app.

05. iCloud — This is Apple’s big new product for Fall release and a banner feature in iOS 5. I’m still skeptical about the music aspects, like Match, but syncing all of my stuff seamlessly, versus whatever MobileMe did, is gonna be great (symbolically cross fingers).
04. Reminders — It looks like Don’t Forget the Milk!, though maybe not quite as nice, a FREE app that will remind me to get the or whatever. And, I did mention that this is a free app bundled with iOS 5, yes?
03. Newsstand — Magazines on the iPad are huge, huge, huge and this Apple app will make integration with the operating system just that much tighter.
02. iMessage — It’s time to stop paying for SMS text messaging and this is the app, which will ship with iOS 5, that’s gonna put a stop to the bleeding — eat that Verizon and AT&T!
01. Notification Center — This is one of the new default apps introduced by iOS 5 and every — I mean every — idevice user out there has been waiting for this advanced implementation of notifications since 2007.
