Let’s talk iPhone 5 ship date

September 28, 2011

Apple will be making iPhone next announcements on Tuesday, October 4 and it’s overwhelmingly likely that Tim Cook will lead an ensemble cast on stage at the company’s 1 Infinite Loop headquarters where the event will be held. That’s all very well and nice, but when can I get one?

This comes from the going around the block to go in the backdoor department.

Redmond Pie is where I picked up the scent and they’re saying they got the idea from eminently quotable Boy Genius Report. End of story, right?

That bright bulb, however chose to list the Mac Treasure Tracing Club (Japan) as its source.

So what? Well, Mac Treasure Tracing Club is listing France’s BFM Business from France and AppleInsider as sources.

The punchline? The iPhone 4S and/or iPhone 5 will ship on October 14 in the United States, France, Germany and Japan.

Eschew obfuscation!

However, the really interesting twist is that Mac Treasure Tracing Club, the English name listed at the bottom of their pages and not the thoroughly Japanese sounding “macotakara” moniker found in their URL referenced by BGR and everyone else, actually states in the English translation they provide, “it is not cleared how Apple will handle for this generation of iPhone.”

Anyway, October 14 sounds good to me and there’s good historical precedent for going with Friday…

What’s your take?
