Fresh iPhone 5, iPhone 4S sightings
In the internet age, everyone’s a source. Thereupon, the developer references, code snippets and placeholder pages are being bandied about as evidence for and against the existence of various iPhone models that, until Apple says otherwise, don’t exist.
That said, product placeholder pages on corporate websites are notoriously unreliable. Remember all of those iWork sighting last year? Yeah, we’re still waiting for that.
However, TUAW received a number of reader reports, including screen caps, that Cincinnati Bell’s commerce had placeholder pages for an iPhone 5. Yes, the references are now gone or otherwise hidden and, no, there was no photo.

Cincinnati Bell is one of the bigger regionals and to date hasn’t offered the iPhone.
There’s that and then there’s AppleInsider, or any of a dozen other sources on the subject, which spotted references to the iPhone 4S inside the latest iTunes 10.5 beta. This is more meaningful because it comes from Apple, right? Perhaps.
When Tim Cook takes the stage to talk iPhone on Tuesday, October 4, it’s believed by many the iPhone 5 will offer a 4-inch display, improved (8MP vs 5MP) camera and faster A5 processor. However, a seemingly equal number of people believe with some justification that those are the specs of the iPhone 4S.
Well, one thing’s for sure — nothing’s for sure until skinny guy that isn’t Steve Jobs says it real…
What’s your take?
